BIOGRAPHIE RUDI HURZLMEIER

Rudi Hurzlmeier was born in 1952 in Mallersdorf Abbey in Bavaria. He lives as a painter, author, cyclist and ornithologist with his family in Munich. After unsteady years of apprenticeship and travel with activities in a wide variety of professions, he began to study the comic arts autodidactically in the 80s. He initially drew comics for underground newspapers and soon cartoons for major magazines such as Stern, Bunte, Penthouse, Gong, Hör Zu, Eulenspiegel and many more

For 25 years he has been a permanent employee of the TITANIC magazine. In addition, he regularly contributes to the Süddeutsche Zeitung and the FAZ-Sonntagszeitung. In 2010 he was awarded the German Caricature Prize in Dresden, the most important award for cartoonists in Germany.

Rudi Hurzlmeier has published more than 40 books and illustrated works by Hans Zippert, Thomas Gsella, Wiglaf Droste, Peter Hacks, Harry Rowohlt, Robert Gernhardt, and Truman Capote, among others. His works have been shown in more than 100 individual and thematic exhibitions at home and abroad.
